773.16473 The Tall Tale in its Literary and Social Context: A Brief Review of Carolyn S.Brown?s The Tall Tale in American Folklore and Literature
This 3-page undergraduate book review examines Carolyn S. Brown?s The Tall Tale in American Folklore and Literature. The review begins with an examination of Brown?s thesis. Brown argues that the tall tale in American literature is a genre concerned with boundaries between narrator and audience, and between the society and the tale. Brown argues that the tall tale defines and unifies groups and helps groups deal with difficult environments through laughter. This book review examines Brown?s thesis and arguments, and concludes that although Brown?s approach is novel, Brown overlooks alternate readings of the tall tales and avoids discussing the violence that is prevalent in many of these narratives. The review examines some of the key terms and concepts - including, for example the tall tale, and oral and written genres - present in Brown?s works. Finally, this review examines the sources used by Brown as well as her background.

777.16679 Book Review - Molson, Birth of a Business Empire
This book review concerns the Biography of John Molson who founded the Molson Breweries in Canada, among other things. A fascinating tale about a person who probably did not have much direction in life originally (he went to Canada for the good of his health) and yet is one of the most common names in Canada today. This review explains more about the book and author, Douglas Hunter.
